What is a "face shield"?

A face shield is a protective accessory that is used to cover the face, primarily the eyes, nose, and mouth, from exposure to hazardous materials, debris, or liquids in a variety of work settings. Face shields typically consist of a curved plastic or polycarbonate shield that extends from the forehead to the chin and is attached to a headgear. The headgear can be adjusted to fit various head sizes and is designed to hold the shield in place while allowing enough space for air to circulate. Face shields provide full-face protection and can be used in combination with other protective equipment such as safety glasses and respirators for added protection.
